His Own Devices :: June 7th, 2003 ::
So. Jessamyn left for Chicago yesterday, which means that I had (and continue to have) the run of the place for the weekend. For some of you guys I realize that might mean getting drunk with friends or maybe renting a lot of pornography, but around these parts it means eating salmon for dinner and watching a whole lot of movies that I’ve been wanting to see for a while but had chosen not to because Jessamyn had already seen them and there were plenty of other movies at the video store that neither of us had seen yet.
But yes, there has been some macho crap going on here as well, but that has been manifested in activities such as fixing the pickup truck (I added license plate lights and worked on pulling out a dent in an attempt to help it pass state inspections) and mowing the lawn. That was all cut short, however, when it started to rain early in the afternoon.
So overall it’s been a nice weekend on my own. But I’m looking forward to picking Jessamyn up at the airport tomorrow. I plan on it being a nice heartfelt reunion, even if the length of our separation is all but insignificant by our standards. But then, that fact make make it that much better, somehow.
